Interview with Munya

What’s one lesson fatherhood has taught you that you wish you’d known earlier in life?

Make the most of every moment. They grow up really fast.

Can you share a moment as a dad that made you especially proud or grateful?

I am proud of everything they do. I’m even more grateful that I have these beings who look up to me and are always genuinely excited to be around me.

What values or principles do you hope to pass on to your children, and why are they important to you?

There are a lot of values I hope to pass on. The one that immediately comes to mind is that, ”all things are permissible unto me but, not all things are beneficial” 1 Corinthians 10:23.

This is especially important to me because I’ve had to learn a lot of things the hard way, and if they can seek a relationship with God and learn this early on, I think they’ll turn out just fine.

Fatherhood can be challenging as well as rewarding. What has helped you navigate the difficult seasons?

As men, we are always primed to get on with things no matter the difficulty, but I am learning that as a believer I never have to go through anything alone – God is always there waiting on us to call Him for help.

How has your relationship with God influenced how you father your children?

Good question, it’s something I was recently discussing with a friend of mine. It’s influenced me a lot as I now try and raise them with eternity in mind, which wouldn’t have been the case a couple of years ago. In addition, I’ve actually learned a lot from the kids about what my relationship with God should be like. Scripture says we are to be like little children – full of life, joy, innocence, obedience and total dependence on our Father.

In three words, how would your children describe you?

They would say I am the “best dad ever” – that is only of course when I let them have their way.

Interview with Elder Kingsley

What’s one lesson fatherhood has taught you that you wish you’d known earlier in life?

That actions speak louder than words. Children will mirror much of what you do, more than what you say!

Can you share a moment as a dad that made you especially proud or grateful?

God is the progenitor of life and it’s a privilege to be a father, it gives me much satisfaction. During the naming and dedication of my children, I saw it is as an opportunity to be grateful to God and also pray for others who are patiently waiting on the Lord for a breakthrough.

What values or principles do you hope to pass on to your children, and why are they important to you?

Principles of honesty, integrity and hard work are the bedrock of a successful life.

Fatherhood can be challenging as well as rewarding. What has helped you navigate the difficult seasons?

I see every challenge as an opportunity to be better.

How has your relationship with God influenced how you father your children?

As God is El Shaddai – the one who provides all our needs according to His riches – this places a responsibility on me to provide for my children.
